N&W CANTILEVER SIGNAL BRIDGE
The Norfolk and Western Railroad had its own unique cantilever signal
bridge. It was of an “I” beam construction with a platform on top. You can
now have this unique signal bridge on your layout. It comes with many
details such as ladder, base support, hidden wiring, grated platform and
angle iron railing. Although it is shown with N&W signals mounted on top,
the bridge will accept any of the mast signals in our catalog. |

In the mid 1980’s, Conrail installed new signal
equipment on many of its lines. In western PA, Conrail used a new modern
style of cantilever bridge in order to span two tracks. You can now have
this unique signal bridge on your layout. It comes with many details such as
ladder, grated platform, a single wire lead like the prototype, base support
with conduit box and correct angle iron railing. Although it is shown with
PRR signals on top, you could mound any of the mast signals in our catalog
to the bridge. |

BRACKETED TOWER |

The railroads needed a less expensive way of
signaling double track main lines. Signal bridges and cantilever bridges
were expensive to build and required work directly over the track. The
bracketed tower allowed the railroad to signal both tracks of a double main
line without the expense of a complete bridge and without hindering traffic
to erect and maintain the structure. If visibility is not clear for a
minimal distance or there are more than 2 tracks, the railroad could still
use cantilever or bridge signals. These towers are very helpful when using
command control because it allows the model railroader to see the signal
even if the train is in front of it. My towers are all hand crafted in brass
and come complete with railing, etched platform, ladder, signal mast bases
and a cement footing. The tower will accept any of the mast or bridge
signals in the catalog. The signals and mounting the signals are an
additional cost. Remember that the bridge signals do not come with ladder
detailing while the mast signals do. |
