I have decided to clear some of the parts inventory from the past.  If you are interested in building your own O-Scale signals, you may find some detailed parts to make the job a success.  I will be putting up signal parts in stages as I sort them out.

SPRINGFIELD, MA SHOW 

 The Custom Signals 24 foot operating display will be set up for the Amherst Railway Society Railroad Hobby Show January 28th & 29th, 2012.  I will be in the Better Living Center, area 66 near the tunnel to the other halls.  Come by and ask for a demonstration of all the features of the signal system.  Since I only carry a few of each product to the show, if you would like to pick up some products please send your order by January 21, 2012.  Some of my products such as wire and the PPBs are heavy so you can save on the shipping cost by ordering early.  All orders must be paid before the show.   

This is a very large show with more than 35 operating layouts. This includes the Southern New England O-Scale 36' by 84' masterpiece.  It won both the Presidents Award and Best in Show Award at the NMRA Convention in Hartford.  It also has a complete Custom Signals operating signal system.

Scale Signals & Signal System for the 21st Century

                             SOME THINGS ABOUT CUSTOM SIGNALS

I started this business in the mid 1980’s when I found a pair of NJI crossing signals at a train show.  I was intrigued by their more scale size and appearance, but also by the difficulty of finding any more of them.  It looked like there was a void in this hobby that needed to be filled.  I made a small diorama with the two signals and presented it at the TCA York show.  There seemed to be a great deal of interest in modeling with scale signals so Christopher Enterprises was formed.  I gradually increased my variety to over 200 different signals, accessories and electronics.   

Over the years I have also tried to improve each of my signals towards that “perfect” reproduction of the actual prototype.  In a way, this is impossible since each prototype signal is assembled according to the situation it has to control.  Additional variations also occur between railroads and manufacturers.  Time also causes some variations as the railroads are taken over or they try to improve signaling.  Finally, the modeling process itself will cause some variation from the actual prototypes.  Since there are so many variations out there, I renamed the business CUSTOM SIGNALS. 

I think you will find the signals and signal system to be the best in the O scale market today.  My signals are hand crafted in a variety of materials.  All of my ground (or mast) signals come with complete platform and railing details for each target, while the bridge signals do not.  They will also have at least 16 inches of color-coded wire leads with RJ-12 jacks for easier installation into the Atlas 21st CENTURY SIGNAL BLOCK SIGNAL CONTROLLERS (BSC).  Every effort is made to maintain that perfect scale appearance while giving quality performance.

2008 has been very productive with the release of the new improved GRADE CROSSING SIGNALS and the PRR POSITION LIGHT SIGNALS.  Both of these very popular signals have been well received.  The PRRs will also have the block signal controllers (BSC-3/4) included with the purchase of the signal.

I have plans for a variety of additional products over the next year.  Atlas-O and Custom Signals will together be producing the next series of signals called the COLOR POSITION LIGHT SIGNALS.  Atlas will be marketing the single target block signal and Custom Signals will be marketing the double target interlocking signal.  These will integrate into the signal system for both turnout direction and block occupancy. 

We will also be doing the familiar D-STYLE, VERTICAL LIGHT SIGNALS.  Atlas will be marketing the single target block signal and Custom Signals will be marketing the double and triple target interlocking signals.  These will integrate into the signal system for both turnout direction and block occupancy. 

I will also be producing additional control boards for The Custom Signals’ Modular Signal System.  I hope to eventually be able to use the signal system as a train control device for your layout.  

The Custom Signals’ Track Configuration Library is now approaching 70 different applications for the signal system.  Two new sections are now available for more signal applications.  

I will also be doing LAYOUT DESIGN AND INSTALLATION of complete signaling systems.
